During the second grade, UK-based, American journalist Adrian Brune took her first step towards a life in journalism by tying a neck hanger around her Kodak Instant camera, sticking a notebook in her back pocket and cruising the streets of Tulsa, OK in the backseat of her mother’s 1982 Buick Skylark, looking for the latest sensation to hit the bedroom community. Since then, Brune has never glanced back...

Brune has reported and written hundreds of freelance newspaper, magazine and website articles – from pitch to print – for publications, such as Foreign AffairsAir Mail, the New Yorker, The Guardian, Courts magazine and The Spectator on variety of topics, including global affairs, social justice, the United Nations and human rights, as well as sport and culture. She has authored magazine cover stories for the Chicago Tribune Magazine, the Boston Globe Magazine and The Nation. In 2007, Brune took on a day job at the United Nations, first as a press officer, where she covered high-level meetings and produced press releases and articles for the 2007, 2013 and 2015 General Assemblies. From 2014-2018, she worked as associate editor for the UN Yearbook, for which she produced chapters on the Middle East and Social Development. As a former content specialist for UNICEF, Brune has written and produced communications material in all forms – from blogs to website copy to photo captions to speeches, as well as 15-page brochures to 50-page reports.

Brune began her professional journalism career as a staff writer at the Washington Blade – a respected LGBT+ newspaper in Washington, D.C. – followed by a stint at as the education reporter for Annapolis Capital in Annapolis, Maryland, followed by a position at American Lawyer magazine. In these roles, Brune broke national stories to the New York Times and the Washington Post. Brune holds a BS in Journalism from Northwestern University and a MS in Journalism from Columbia University and a MA in Global Diplomacy from SOAS, the University of London. Brune is an active member of PEN America, Society of Professional Journalists and Newswomen’s Club of New York. She is also the founder of RALLY: All Things Racquet, a tennis app, and a LTA-, USTA-certified official, in addition to being a weekly player since age eight. Brune is a former board member of Kings County Tennis League, an organization that helps disadvantaged children in Brooklyn through tennis, and she does regular development and diplomacy work through sport among refugees and teenagers in Iraq.
